Nielsen Interview Experience: Application to Interview Invitation

This blog post is designed to help anyone preparing for an interview at Nielsen, especially those looking forward to joining the company. I will walk you through the entire process—from submitting your application to receiving an interview invite from HR.

      How Does the Process Start?

Nielsen posts job openings on various platforms, including job boards and their official career page. In my case, I applied through a LinkedIn job post.

I first applied for the position of Content Writer (Fresher Role). Just one day after submitting my application, I received a call from HR. This shows that their resume screening process is quick and efficient.

After a brief introduction during the call, HR sent me an email with an assessment link, which I had to complete within a specific time frame. Most assessments are conducted on the HireVue platform.

The assessment content is tailored to the position’s responsibilities and is generally fair and reasonable. If you are passionate and prepared for the role, cracking the assessment is very achievable.

      My Application Experiences with Nielsen

I applied twice at Nielsen. The first time, I did not hear back after submitting the assessment, which indicates that they do not notify candidates if their applications are unsuccessful. If you do not receive feedback within a week after the assessment, it is likely you won’t hear from them at all.

In my second application for the Ad Intel Data Analyst position, I received a call from HR about three days after submitting the assessment to schedule a virtual interview. Although I could tell after the interview that my candidature was unlikely to proceed—mainly because of differences in interests and long-term goals—I did not receive any formal feedback from HR.

Key Takeaways About Nielsen’s Hiring Process

      • They are very quick in their hiring process, especially with resume screening and scheduling interviews.
      • If you do not hear from them within a week of applying or submitting an assessment, it is unlikely you will get a response. This is based on my experience with the Mumbai, India location but is likely applicable in other regions as well.
